Okay, so this week isn’t technically a J recipe but it is what we call this simple and delicious mustard sauce for ham. Our girls tried it at her house one night and they were sold. It’s been referred to as Jessica’s ham sauce ever since.
Even Jess herself can’t remember where she got the recipe from, just that she wrote it out on a card in her recipe box where it remains today (having been used many times).
Before we get to the sauce I guess I should let you know about the ham we use. Usually, roast ham is a quick and easy meal made with a toupee ham from the local Walmart. Very economical plus it yields plenty of leftovers for breakfast and lunches.
You can also use this sauce on a nice ham steak (we watch for them on sale) or a nice shoulder (like the one below that we enjoyed at Mickey’s Breakfast in Disneyland).
I don’t know if I would use it on a canned ham like the one below (although it would likely improve the flavor) but I usually reserve canned ham for a sandwich salad with pickle relish.
Yes, this simple sauce is my contribution to Blogging Through the Alphabet this week. It may be simple but I promise you it’s delicious.
