Place {Five Minute Friday}

I know, it’s Saturday but I thought I would try my hand at joining into Five Minute Friday again after several weeks away. I enjoy participating in this group since I find the word prompts really make me think but, unfortunately, I do more thinking than writing and tend to let the days slip away until it seems silly to post anything at all. So here goes, my Five-Minute Friday post for this week’s word – place.

When I look at the image for this week’s word, place, it reminds me of family visits to Disneyland and the giant Mickey Wheel at California Adventure. Of course what is more important to me is the memory of who I was with on the visit. Again, this image reminds me of a visit with two of our adult daughters, a girl’s road trip away from home where we did whatever we wanted to do and went along to our own schedule, no husband/dad, no kids, just mom and her girls having fun together and reconnecting without the interruption of work and school. It was an amazing time and one where I’ll remember both the place and the loved ones who were with me.

Memories are like that. Everything tied up together including the sounds and smells of the place we were at the time. Looking back at pictures I see the places and spaces but I also see the smiling faces and remember the laughter (and the tears) of those I was traveling with.

And you know that saying, “There’s no place like home,” well I do believe it’s true but I don’t always think home is a particular brick and mortar location. No, for me home is where the heart is so my favorite place is there too, with my loved ones.

    “… for me home is where the heart is so my favorite place is there too, with my loved ones.” I agree. I am at home when with my loved ones and that is a rich blessing. Your post encourages me to be grateful for the many wonderful memories I have of time with family and friends who are like family. Visiting from FMF.
