No Better Way to Spend the Day (Five Minute Friday)

When I saw today’s Five Minute Friday prompt I immediately envisioned myself enjoying the warmth of sunshine as I listened to sea birds while enjoying time spent with my family.

The ocean is one of my favorite places. I love the majesty of the mountains too but there is something about the water that is peaceful and takes me away from the everyday.

I may have gotten a little crazy with pictures this week but I hope you will enjoy some of my favorites from over the past few years. These were taken on both the Atlantic and Pacific shores, some in beautifully hot weather, others with a definite chill to the water but each one just as special a memory as the other.

Oceans, what better creation in this world compares. They can be enjoyed by families on a sunny summer afternoon but they also provide a home for an amazing array of sea creatures that fascinate our imaginations.

Think about the books and movies we have enjoyed over the years with their ocean themes. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is one that comes to mind with its science fiction like theme and crazy undersea battles. My brother loved it.

Another favorite was The Incredible Mr. Limpet about a man who so loved the sea and its inhabitants that he fell in one day and became of of them. My mom could watch that one over and over when it came on TV.

Finally there was The Little Mermaid when my girls were little. She was a bit different, she wanted something more than her undersea home (but it was so beautiful).

Then Finding Nemo and Finding Dory bith with sweet messages of friendship and strong family bongs

Yes, oceans have tickled our imaginations for many years and will continue to into the future.

For me though, my favorite day is one spent relaxing and enjoying my family as we disconnect from the electronic world and enjoy the lapping waves.

Yes the ocean does capture your mind and imagination and helps you escape for awhile. You can leave all your troubles on the shore when you come.
